Laundry Information Main Page

Here you’ll find many articles to help answer your questions related to laundry, clothes washing, drying, and so on. This page is divided into sections based on the topic category.

What is laundry?

Laundry is a general category covering the washing, cleaning, drying, and related care of clothing and textile or other fabric items. Modern automated home (or commercial) appliances such as washing machines and clothes dryers handle much of the laundry cleaning and drying that formerly had to be done by hand.

However, a combination of machine washing is often used along with open-air drying or other methods to reduce energy use & cost. Laundromats are businesses that provide commercial laundry machines that can be used by those who do not own their own home machines.

Laundry washing also involves the use of specialized laundry detergent (laundry soap) best suited for washing machine rinse & wash cycles. Stain remover, fabric softeners, and other products provide additional benefits where needed.
